Wooden Angel

This wooden angel is a Christmas ornament that I cut out of 1/4 inch thick oak. The original image was a thin brass ornament that was about 1 inch high. I enlarged the image cut it out having to drill 79 holes to insert a scroll saw blade into each hole to make the cut. This was for my wife at Christmas.

Linda Wooden Silhouette

This is a picture of a silhouette of my wife when she was a little girl. I cut this on a scroll saw and mounted it in a 8x10 frame. She was one of 5 kids in her family so I made images for everyone in the family and a second set for my in-laws.

I experimented a few years earlier on making "pictures in wood". Well, I was close in figuring it out but it was not until a few years later that I saw the front of a woodworking magazine where Gary Browning (his web site) figured it out. One read of the article finally put it all together for me. I had even thought beyond my stumbling block to how I was going to display the images - this is the final result.

Christmas Ornament

This is a picture of a Christmas ornament that I cut out with my scroll saw. The Jesus image was taken from a woodworking magazine that incorporated the image into a wooden wall shelf. I thought the image was so well done (and have never seen another better) that it needed to be made into something else.... like an ornament. Most people when they look at the wooden image they say "what is it?" - then we tell them to hold it up to the light to expose the silhouette. The size is 3 inches across. I also made this into a larger image and mounted it into a 8x10 frame with the silhouette effect. This was a great way to combine my interests in woodworking and photography.

Josh with Filmore

My son told me that his friend Josh likes old VW Vans - Hippy Style, so when I saw "Filmore" in the movie "Cars" I thought that they should meet. I found Filmore as a wallpaper on a website and Josh - well I had to ask him to pose for me against a white wall. He was reluctant but I assured him that he will get a Christmas present out of it. To my surprise it turned out pretty good. I have turned this into an 8x10 for Josh for Christmas.

Miniature Man

The garbage truck in the background is about 12 inches long and is part of a scaled-down display at the company where I work. I thought it would be intersting to see if I could put a fellow employee into the picture. "Miles" posed for a separate picture. I cut him out > resized and placed him in the picture with a mock shadow in the background. This picture is part of a powerpoint presentation at the company Christmas Party. Maybe someone will notice?

Wild Rose

This is a picture of a Wild Rose which is the official flower of Alberta, Canada. These roses can be seen growing wild in the foothills and mountains throughout Alberta

Bee's Lunch

Here is a great close-up image of a wild flower. How could a bee pass up this landing pad for lunch?

Amazing Wild Flower

Here is such a neat looking wild flower. I love the colour and the sharpness of this image! I took this with my Nikon Coolpix 5400 camera in the macro setting at 5 megapixels.

Tornado in Taber Alberta Canada

Here is a picture of a Tornado that blew through Southern Alberta. We all thought it was incredible since we do not get tornado's through this part of the world. All the people in vehicles at the bottom of this picture thought it was worth driving to a good spot to watch it pass just north of Taber, Alberta. All that effort only knocked over one or two grain bins.

Fat Slob Resume

Here is a combination of two images that I found on the internet. I inserted the fat slob image into the image that is holding the paper. After some tweaking of each image I finished up with this.
What is it you may ask??? It means that a resume is your sales tool on who you are. If it looks bad then you look bad. After making many resumes for four years managing a Career Resource Centre - I thought this image was perfect to get my point across. Unfortunately, I never did get to publish it until now cause I left that job 3 years ago!

Passion of the Christ Ad

Here is an ad we did locally in newspapers to advertise a series of Sunday Service topics centered around the movie "The Passion of the Christ" when it first came out to the theatres.

Death on a Tree

Here is the first blending of two images that I experimented with. Jesus on the cross and an image of of trees in a forest - both found on the internet. I played with the colours to get to this dramatic image.

Christ on the Cross

Here is an image from the movie "Passion of the Christ". These two pictures were blended together to get to this final image. The depiction of the agony and physical mutilation in this movie is not even close to how the bible describes Jesus's image while on the cross.

Was on a Cross

Here two pictures were blended together with the colour being adjusted to this final image. It shows Christ on the cross and then not on the cross.

Crosses in Trees

Here is a blend of two images. One is of three crosses and the other of trees in a forest. I overlapped the two images and faded the crosses and adjusted the colour until I came to this final image. The bible says that the Messiah died by hanging on a tree...

Passion of the Christ

While looking at images from the movie "Passion of the Christ" I came across this image of Christ in a wallpaper image. I enlarged the face > blurred the image > added the white dots to highlight the eyes and then blurred them too. The finished image is something that has made me reflect on what Jesus did for us on the cross.

Cars Wallpaper

"CARS" is the big movie right now which I have yet to see. I found this car as part of a wallpaper image on the internet. Since it looked kind of dull I went looking for a checker flag to add into the image. Basically, I cut out the car image and put it on top of the blurred checker flag background.

Canola Field and Barn

This picture was taken from the Trans Canada Hiway between Brooks and Calgary Alberta. Canola is a flower that is processed to make Canola Oil. The barn in the background combined with the yellow fields against the blue sky was a picture I could not pass up.

Mayfly

Here is a picture of a Mayfly. It was taken at Point Pelee Provincial Park in Southern Ontario Canada. Point Pelee is the Southern most point of Canada. You can litterally walk out to the very tip of Canada on a beach area. The Mayfly is just one of the many insects that live in this marsh land. The park is well known as one of the places for Monarch butterflies to migrate to. *click on the picture and check out the parks web site: www.pelee.com

Bee on Purple Flowers

This picture was taken during a hike near our campsite in Southern Alberta (near the Montana border). I am not sure what this flower is but it sure did keep this bee busy for awhile. *click on picture
